SBU honors employees for years of service
Southwest Baptist University honored employees with employment anniversary milestones, beginning with five years, during the annual employee Christmas banquet Dec. 6. The employees recognized have given a total of 685 years of service to SBU.
SBU team, faculty member assist with disaster relief
Led by Gabe Craig, a senior chemistry education and intercultural studies major from Park Hills, Mo., the SBU Disaster Relief team of Sara McDonald, Hannah Gibbs, Jacob Showers and Haden Liska spent their Thanksgiving break in Bristol, Fla., helping residents clean up after Hurricane Michael, which ravaged the Florida panhandle in October.

SBU's Glasgow honored with lifetime achievement award
Southwest Baptist University's Dr. Bob Glasgow, professor of mathematics, was presented with the Leroy Sachs Award for lifetime achievement (or contribution) on Nov. 30 at the Missouri Council of Teachers of Mathematics Fall Conference in Columbia.

SBU mission teams commissioned at Dec. 5 Chapel service
Southwest Baptist University's Center for Global Connections formally commissioned 12 mission teams, as well as Intercultural Studies majors, at the semester's final Chapel service on Wednesday, Dec. 5, in Pike Auditorium on the Bolivar campus.

More than 200 students to graduate at SBU winter commencement ceremonies
Southwest Baptist University is set to graduate 204 students at two winter 2018 commencement ceremonies. The SBU Mercy College of Nursing and Health Sciences will hold winter commencement at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, and the ceremony for all other graduates is at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14. Both ceremonies will be held in the Jane and Ken Meyer Wellness and Sports Center.

Brinkman receives SBU Library Award
Southwest Baptist University student Olivia Brinkman of Springfield, Mo., was honored by the SBU University Libraries as the Outstanding Student Assistant of the Month for October 2018.
Speaking Bearcats have strong showing in Thanksgiving tournaments
The Southwest Baptist University Speaking Bearcats kicked off the Thanksgiving break with a pair of tournaments in Bowling Green, Ohio, posting strong results in both the Falcon Classic on Nov. 17 and the Birds of a Feather tournament on Nov. 18.

Meadows presents at National Honors Council Conference
Southwest Baptist University's Dr. Jodi Meadows recently was selected as a presenter during the 53rd annual National Collegiate Honors Council conference in Boston, Mass.
