Festival of Christmas is Dec. 5 at SBU

The 41st annual Festival of Christmas, sponsored by Southwest Baptist University and Community Outreach Ministries, will be presented at 6 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 5, in Mabee Chapel on SBU's Bolivar campus. Community members also will be able to meet SBU President Dr. Rick Melson from 5 to 6 p.m. in the lobby of Mabee Chapel.

"The Awakening" revival refreshes and equips

"The Awakening," a three-day student-led revival on Southwest Baptist University's Bolivar campus on Nov. 5-7, revealed a desire to grow in the Lord and to repent by providing the campus and surrounding community with a weekend of encouragement and equipping through learning, connecting and worship.

SBU's Wind Symphony, University Band to perform Nov. 18

The Southwest Baptist University Division of Arts and Humanities presents the Wind Symphony and University Band in concert at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 18 in Pike Auditorium on the Bolivar campus.

SBU Jazz Ensemble to present fall concert Nov. 16

The Southwest Baptist University Jazz Ensemble will present its fall concert at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 16, in Pike Auditorium on the Bolivar campus.

SBU coding team wins O'Reilly Coding Challenge

The Southwest Baptist University Computing Bearcats' "BrokenBot" coding team recently defeated Drury University in the annual O'Reilly Coding Challenge.

SBU maintains accreditation while on probation

Southwest Baptist University (SBU) announced today that it continues to be accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) after a review of governance matters. SBU's status has changed to Accredited (Probation) for a period of not more than two years. During this season, HLC will review how the school and its Board of Trustees have addressed three governance matters out of 18 Core Components it uses to accredit universities.

SBU Theatre will present "As it is in Heaven" on Nov. 11-13

Southwest Baptist University Theatre will present "As it is in Heaven," directed by guest director Matt Bender, on Nov. 11-13 in Davis-Newport Theatre on the Bolivar campus. This marks the second production of SBU Theatre's 2021-2022 season.

ECC, SBU sign articulation agreement for A.A. in Teaching transfer opportunities

East Central College and Southwest Baptist University signed an articulation agreement on Friday, Nov. 5, to provide ECC graduates who earn an Associate of Arts in Teaching degree a smooth transition into SBU's bachelor of science in elementary education program.
