Portal Site

Now that you officially have been admitted to the University, you have access to the SBU Admitted Student portal site, which will be a valuable tool for you.

Accessing the Portal:

  • Click the "MyBearcat" link at the top of our website
  • Enter the username and password provided in an email sent after you were admitted to SBU
  • You will be prompted to set a new password after initial log-in

Below are some next steps to take to learn more about SBU, secure your spot in classes and housing, and to maximize your financial aid opportunities.

1) Schedule a personal visit

We invite you to come visit SBU for a personalized visit of our campus. During your visit, you can:

  • Take a campus tour
  • Meet with a faculty member in your subject area
  • Discuss admissions and financial aid with your admissions counselor
  • Sit in on a class or attend a Chapel service
  • Eat a meal in our cafeteria
  • And so much more!

2) Engage with SBU on social media

Share your excitement about your acceptance to SBU on social media by using our hashtag #SBUniv. Follow SBU (@SBUniv) on:

3) Submit your FAFSA

To receive any state and federal financial aid for which you may qualify, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and send it to SBU. You will then receive a customized financial aid award letter from SBU.

Submit the FAFSA by February 1 prior to your start term at SBU to maximize your financial aid opportunities. Use SBU school code 002502.

4) Complete the Financial Aid Questionnaire

SBU wants to partner with you to help you maximize your financial aid. Please complete the Financial Aid Questionnaire to provide information that will assist in developing an accurate financial aid award for you.

5) Attend Bearcat Days

Make plans to attend Bearcat Days, an overnight admitted student event held at SBU in March. During Bearcat Days you will:

  • Experience life as an SBU student
  • Meet other Future Bearcats
  • Interact with current SBU students
  • Stay in a dorm with a current student host
  • Talk with faculty
  • And so much more!

6) Send in your enrollment deposit

Ready to secure your spot in classes and housing? Make it official by sending in your $200 nonrefundable through your application account. This deposit is a prepayment on your tuition and will reserve your spot in classes and allow you to sign up for campus housing. Ask your admissions counselor if you have any questions!

7) Attend Summer Orientation

Come to a Summer Orientation event to receive your class schedule for the fall, learn about Welcome Week and meet your future classmates! Stay tuned for dates and sign-up information.

8) Sign up for Welcome Week

You won't want to miss out on Welcome Week, our new student orientation event. During Welcome Week you will make new friends, grow spiritually, and begin making the transition to life at SBU.

9) Agree to Principles/Expectations

All faculty, staff, and students at SBU must sign and agree to the Principles and Expectations that we have on our campus. There will be an opportunity to return a signed copy of this document at Welcome Week. To review the Principles and Expecations, click the button below.
