The SBU Advantage

  • Field experience opportunities begin as early as your freshman year and culminate with a student teaching experience your senior year, providing valuable real-world experiences and networking opportunities.
  • Study from a multi-disciplinary, broad curriculum which will thoroughly prepare you for your career while also challenging you to treat your profession as a mission field.
  • Benefit from highly qualified faculty in both the history/political science and education disciplines.

Faith Integration

The faith perspective distinguishes SBU's social science education degree. History and political science faculty will challenge you to use a "3-D approach" by considering the body, mind and soul.

As a social science education major, you will be challenged to not hide your faith but to consider your classroom as a mission field. Teachers should be instruments of God's grace and truth-bearers and SBU faculty are committed to raising up Christ-centered teachers who are servant leaders.
