Southwest Baptist University was approved for continued accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission, the University's regional accrediting body, March 21.
Ten students in Southwest Baptist University's Computer and Information Sciences (CIS) Department prequalified from state-level competitions to compete at the Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) National Leadership Conference taking place June 24-27 in Atlanta, Ga. SBU and University of Missouri had more students qualify for the national competition than any other Missouri universities.
Legacy of SBU's First Lady, Judy Taylor, celebrated
About 1,000 students, alumni, staff and friends of SBU gathered March 30 in SBU's Mabee Chapel to honor the life of Judy Taylor, wife of SBU President Dr. C. Pat Taylor. Together, they are the longest-serving president and first lady in the University's 138-year history. She passed away Saturday, March 26, 2016, in Bolivar, leaving behind a legacy of dedicated service to the kingdom and the University.
The Southwest Baptist University Theatre program will host guest speaker Dr. Henry Bial, director of the School of the Arts and associate dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Kansas, at 7 p.m. Monday, April 25, in room 240 in the Jester Learning and Performance Center on the SBU campus.
SBU to close campuses Wednesday afternoon in honor of Judy Taylor
In honor of Judy Taylor and her significant influence to the Southwest Baptist University community, the university is closing at noon Wednesday, March 30, so that employees and students can attend Mrs. Taylor's celebration of life service. She is the wife of SBU's President, Dr. C. Pat Taylor.

Southwest Baptist University's First Lady, Judy Taylor, passed away Saturday, March 26, in Bolivar, leaving a legacy of nearly two decades of service to the University.
Southwest Baptist University will host the SBU Student Show and Competition art exhibition Tuesday, March 29 through Friday, April 8. The show features pieces submitted by students across campus in mediums including drawing, painting, fibers, graphic art, ceramics, sculpture, printmaking and photography.

Miller Management Systems, LLC (MMS) has established the MMS Excellence in Non-Profit Accounting and Leadership Scholarship to benefit top Southwest Baptist University accounting students, starting with the 2016-2017 academic year.
