SBU honors employees for years of service

Southwest Baptist University honored employees with employment anniversary milestones, beginning with five years, during the annual employee Christmas banquet Dec. 7. The employees recognized have given a total of 630 years of service to SBU.

Skobel receives SBU Library Award

Southwest Baptist University student Victoria Skobel of Mount Vernon, Ill., was honored by the SBU University Libraries as the Outstanding Student Assistant of the Month for October 2017.

More than 200 students to graduate at SBU winter commencement ceremonies

Southwest Baptist University is set to graduate 218 students at two winter 2017 commencement ceremonies. The Bolivar campus will hold commencement at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15, in the Jane and Ken Meyer Wellness and Sports Center. The Mercy College of Nursing and Health Sciences of SBU will hold winter commencement at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, at Second Baptist Church in Springfield.

CIS department hosts opportunity for computer science educators

Southwest Baptist University's Department of Computer and Information Science hosted school administrators and counselors from 19 area school districts for a workshop conducted by a regional partner of Code.org, a nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to computer science education.

SBU's Behavioral Sciences hosts psychology conference

Southwest Baptist University's Department of Behavioral Sciences hosted the Midwest Christian Psychology Conference on Dec. 1 on the Bolivar campus. The department hosted approximately 100 participants from SBU, John Brown University, Evangel University, College of the Ozarks, Hannibal-LaGrange University and MidAmerica Nazarene University.

SBU DPT project provides mobility for children with disabilities

Serving others is at the heart of the mission for the faculty, staff, and doctor of physical therapy students at Southwest Baptist University. SBU's DPT department hosted an event on Nov. 4 called "Go Baby Go" to provide mobility opportunities for local children with disabilities.

Meadows presents at Honors Council conference

Southwest Baptist University's Dr. Jodi Meadows recently was selected as a presenter during the 52nd annual National Collegiate Honors Council conference in Atlanta, Ga. The conference, themed "Just Honors," highlighted student and faculty research presentations from across the nation, providing training and development for honors program administrators.

Fulbright Visiting Scholar to lecture at SBU on Dec. 4

Southwest Baptist University's Darrell R. Strait Center, along with the Physics and Pre-Engineering and International clubs, welcome Fulbright Visiting Scholar Dr. Mamta Bhatia as she presents lectures at 4 and 7 p.m., Monday, Dec. 4 in room 139 of the Wheeler Science Center on the Bolivar campus.
