SBU physical therapy faculty, students and alumni present research at conference

Faculty and students of Southwest Baptist University's Doctor of Physical Therapy program presented research at the Combined Sections Meeting of the American Physical Therapy Association held last month in Anaheim, Calif., which was attended by more than 11,000 physical therapy professionals and students.

SBU to host Bolivar Public Schools Art Show

Southwest Baptist University will host the Bolivar Public Schools Art Show Tuesday, March 22 through Thursday, March 24. This show will feature a variety of different types of artwork completed during the 2015-2016 school year by Bolivar K-12 students.

Hornbostel participates in assault training and prevention course

Everett Hornbostel, assistant director of safety and security at Southwest Baptist University, participated in a program to become a SHARP (Sexual Harassment, Assault and Rape Prevention) instructor. Held March 7-9 at Evangel University in Springfield, Mo., the program is designed to teach personal safety and sexual assault prevention.

Shelton, Smith crowned Mr. and Miss Southwest

Kinsey Shelton, an English education major from Highland, Ill., and Hunter Smith, a biblical studies major from Kansas City, Mo., won the titles of Mr. and Miss Southwest at the annual pageant on Friday, March 4 at Southwest Baptist University. Eight candidates were nominated by SBU faculty and staff and voted upon by the student body for the purpose of selecting a pair of students to represent the Bearcat family for the next year.

SBU seeks public comment on nursing program in Salem

Mercy College of Nursing & Health Sciences of Southwest Baptist University is seeking comments from the public about the College in preparation for the expansion of the Bridge-RN program at the Salem campus prior to the site visit by the Missouri State Board of Nursing. The College will host a visit May 4, 2016, with a team from the Missouri State Board of Nursing.

SBU honors Richardson with honorary doctorate

Beverly Jane Richardson '60 of West Plains, Mo., received an Honorary Doctor of Missions from Southwest Baptist University during the annual Founders' Day chapel service held Monday, March 7, at SBU.

SBU presents spring chorale concert

The Chorale of Southwest Baptist University will present its spring concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, at the First Baptist Church in Bolivar, Mo. The concert is free and open to the public.

SBU Computer and Information Sciences department advisory board meets

Southwest Baptist University's 2016 Computer and Information Sciences (CIS) Department Advisory Board met Friday, Feb.19, in conjunction with the Robert W. Plaster College of Business and Computer Science Spring Career Fair attended by Accenture, American National Insurance, Digital Monitoring Products, Inter-State Studios, the U.S. Federal Reserve Bank, Bass Pro, O'Reilly Automotive, Intrinsiq Software, Classy Llama, AG Financial, Citizens Memorial Hospital, Health Medx, Jack Henry & Associates, CSG Solutions and Leggett & Platt.
