SBU student a finalist for Japanese Language Speech Contest
Southwest Baptist University student Victoria Black has been selected as a finalist for the Midwest region to compete in the 33rd Annual Japanese Language Speech Contest on Saturday, March 23 in Chicago.

SBU Chorale to present concert on March 26
The Chorale of Southwest Baptist University will be in concert at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 26, at First Baptist Church of Bolivar.

The Center for Global Connections (CGC) at Southwest Baptist University kicked off Global Connections Week during Chapel service Feb. 26, by sharing global trip opportunities for 2019-2020.
Inauguration for SBU President Dr. Eric A. Turner is April 26
Southwest Baptist University's Board of Trustees invites the public to the inauguration of Eric A. Turner, Ed.D., as the 25th President of SBU at 10 a.m. Friday, April 26, in Mabee Chapel on the Bolivar campus. A reception will be held in the Mabee Chapel lobby after the ceremony.

SBU recognizes Wagner as accounting chair as part of Psalm 15 Lecture
Jenell Wagner was installed as an academic chair during Southwest Baptist University's academic chair installation ceremony Wednesday, March 6 in Meyer Recital Hall on the Bolivar campus. Wagner, assistant professor of accounting, was installed with the Ed and Theo Clark Endowed Chair of Accounting Excellence in conjunction with the annual Psalm 15 Lecture.

Speaking Bearcats win third-straight state championship
The Southwest Baptist University Speaking Bearcats won their third-consecutive Missouri Association of Forensics Activities (MAFA) State Championship on Feb. 22-23 in St. Louis, as well as had two students selected to represent Missouri for the Interstate Oratorical competition.

SBU inducts 50 new members to Phi Eta Sigma chapter
The Southwest Baptist University chapter of Phi Eta Sigma inducted 50 new National Honor Society members in a ceremony Feb. 21 in the McClelland Dining Facility on the Bolivar campus.
SBU presents Clemmons, Kanakis with honorary doctorates
Rev. Barbara Ruth Clemmons, of Seabrook, Texas, and Lee Kanakis, of Bartlesville, Okla., received Honorary Doctor degrees from Southwest Baptist University during the annual Founders' Day chapel service held Monday, March 4, in Pike Auditorium on the Bolivar campus.
