BOLIVAR, Mo. – The Southwest Baptist University Department of Music will host a membership kick-off event for the Bolivar Community Chorus to be held at 6 p.m., Friday, Sept. 6 in the Casebolt Music Center.
The Bolivar Community Chorus, a choral ensemble providing musical opportunities for adult singers throughout the region, has been combined with SBU’s Concert Choir to perform a wide range of music genres including classical, folk and ethnic, and popular music.
“I am very excited about the rebirth of this great choir,” said Dr. James Tarrant, director of choral studies at SBU. “The goals of the ensemble include being a large choir performing great and worthy music in a great and worthy way.”
In addition to fall and spring concerts, the ensembles will participate in the annual Festival of Christmas concert in December.
After the kick-off event, rehearsals for the ensembles will be held at 7 p.m. on Mondays.
