BOLIVAR, Mo. — Southwest Baptist University is set to graduate 204 students at two winter 2018 commencement ceremonies. The SBU Mercy College of Nursing and Health Sciences will hold winter commencement at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, and the ceremony for all other graduates is at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14. Both ceremonies will be held in the Jane and Ken Meyer Wellness and Sports Center.
Douglas Click Jr., bachelor of science in health sciences graduate, will deliver the commencement address on Thursday. ASN graduate Annah Bravata will sing “You Say.”
Dr. Troy Bethards ’93 will deliver the commencement address at the Friday ceremony. Dr. Bethards currently serves as the dean of SBU’s Robert W. Plaster College of Business and Computer Science. He previously served as a faculty member within SBU’s business administration department.
The Faculty Life Beautiful award recipient in 2015, Dr. Bethards also received the Orien B. Hendrex Distinguished Teacher award in 2008. He currently serves on the board for the Christian Business Faculty Association.
Dr. Bethards earned his bachelor of science degree in economics and business administration from SBU in 1993, his master of business administration from Missouri State University in 1996 and his doctorate in business administration with a concentration in finance from Anderson (Ind.) University in 2010.
He and his wife, Monica, have been married since 1995 and have two children: Alyssa, a sophomore at SBU, and Mason, who is a junior in high school.
