SBU Theatre announces 2021-2022 season

Southwest Baptist University Theatre is excited to announce its 2021-2022 season that features the theme: "Onward." Each of the productions highlights a different opportunity for students and audience members alike.

SBU's Langford, Weber selected as "Most Influential Women" for 2021

Dr. Allison Langford, vice president for strategic planning and initiatives at Southwest Baptist University, and Rebecca Weber, a 2012 SBU graduate and program director with CASA of Southwest Missouri, have been selected to Springfield Business Journal's class of 2021 "Most Influential Women."

SBU trustees elect Richard J. Melson, Ph.D. as 26th president

Southwest Baptist University's Board of Trustees unanimously elected Richard J. Melson, Ph.D., as the 26th president effective Sept. 7.

SBU celebrates 144th school year at formal convocation

Two faculty members and a staff member were honored during Southwest Baptist University's annual convocation Wednesday, Aug. 18 - the opening of the 144th session of the University.

SBU mourns the passing of former First Lady Joann Spurgeon

The Southwest Baptist University family mourns the passing of former SBU First Lady Joann Spurgeon, wife of Harlan E. Spurgeon, who served as SBU President from 1979-1983. Joann passed away Aug. 7 in Ozark at the age of 90.

SBU welcomes new faculty for 2021-2022 academic year

Southwest Baptist University is pleased to announce several new faculty members for the 2021-2022 academic year. SBU's faculty is integral in the University's mission to be a Christ-centered, caring academic community preparing students to be servant leaders in a global society.

Baseball star Burrell joins SBU Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2021

Now a member of the 2021 SBU Athletics Hall of Fame class, Jack Burrell was a hard-throwing right-hander who was a starting pitcher for the Bearcats for three seasons. An injury sent him to the bullpen, moving him into a relief role his senior season.
