Wallgren, Glasgow crowned Mr. and Miss Southwest

Zack Wallgren, a computer science and mathematics major from Wentzville, and Hanna Glasgow, an elementary education major from Grove, Okla., won the titles of Mr. and Miss Southwest at the annual pageant on Friday, March 4, at Southwest Baptist University.

SBU celebrates inauguration of 26th President - Dr. Richard J. Melson

Southwest Baptist University celebrated the inauguration of Richard J. Melson, Ph.D., as its 26th president in a ceremony Wednesday, March 2, in Mabee Chapel on the Bolivar campus. The inauguration formally commemorates the beginning of Dr. Melson's leadership at SBU, while celebrating the University's rich history and reaffirming the University's mission of being a Christ-centered, caring academic community preparing students to be servant leaders in a global society.

SBU Theatre to present "The Pirates of Penzance" on March 10-13

Southwest Baptist University Theatre will present "The Pirates of Penzance" - its third production of the 2021-22 season - at 7 p.m., March 10-12 and at 2 p.m., March 13 in the Davis-Newport Theatre on the Bolivar campus.

SBU's annual Mr. and Miss Southwest pageant to be held March 4

Southwest Baptist University will honor one male and one female student at the annual Mr. and Miss Southwest Pageant, which takes place at 7 p.m. Friday, March 4, in Pike Auditorium on the Bolivar campus.

SBU Division of Education inspires future educators

Southwest Baptist University's Division of Education is encouraging current and future educators through multiple initiatives. The Missouri Department of Education reports that enrollment in Missouri teacher preparation programs has declined more than 25 percent during the past decade. Additionally, the rate at which teachers leave the profession is higher than the national average.

SBU Presidential Inauguration events run Feb. 26-March 4

Southwest Baptist University will celebrate the Inauguration of Richard J. Melson, Ph.D., as the University's 26th President with a week of Inaugural events spanning Feb. 26-March 4.

SBU hosts Spring 2022 Chapel services

Southwest Baptist University welcomes students, employees and the community to Spring semester Chapel services, which take place weekly at 10 a.m. in Pike Auditorium on the Bolivar campus through Wednesday, May 11.

SBU's Bolivar campus closed Feb. 4, 2022

Southwest Baptist University's Bolivar campus is closed Friday, Feb. 4, 2022, due to inclement weather. Classes are canceled, and offices are closed. Remote teaching or working is not expected during the campus closure.
