SBU CIS students help create fun, educational games for Halfway Public Schools
Southwest Baptist University's Department of Computer and Information Sciences (CIS) students recently teamed up with local area teachers to create a series of fun games with a serious intent - teaching state learning objectives to students at Halfway Public Schools.

Nursing classes begin in June at SBU-Salem
An associate's degree in nursing is now available through the Dr. Tracy and Debbie Dobbs Nursing Department at Southwest Baptist University's Salem campus. After a successful site visit on Friday, April 28, the first classes will be offered beginning June 5.
SBU Enactus finishes in top 8 at national competition
Southwest Baptist University Enactus matched its best result in the Enactus U.S. National Exposition by placing in the top eight after finishing runner-up in its league in the semifinals at the competition held May 21-23 at the Kansas City Convention Center.

Cybersecurity degree now offered at SBU
Southwest Baptist University will offer a bachelor of science in cybersecurity beginning Fall 2017. Cybersecurity specialists are in extremely high demand. According to Forbes, more than 200,000 cybersecurity jobs went unfilled in 2016.
Austin, Gooch receive Life Beautiful Awards at SBU commencement
Southwest Baptist University conferred 218 undergraduate and 198 graduate degrees during two ceremonies Saturday, May 20, on the Bolivar campus. Another 129 degrees were conferred Thursday, May 18, in Springfield, to graduates of the Mercy College of Nursing and Health Sciences of SBU.

SBU Bolivar undergraduate commencement moves indoors
The undergraduate commencement ceremony at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 20, at Southwest Baptist University will be held in the Meyer Wellness and Sports Center.

SBU media students bring home MBEA awards
Southwest Baptist University students in the Multi-Media for Non-Profit Organizations and TV II Production classes recently received five awards, including two first-place honors, in the 2017 Missouri Broadcast Educators Association Media Contest.
Svendsen receives SBU Library Award
Southwest Baptist University student Kala Svendsen of Everton was honored by the SBU University Libraries as the Outstanding Student Assistant of the Month for April 2017.
