SBU to award honorary doctorates to Roweton, Welch

Ellen Rose Douglas Roweton of Bolivar, and Thomas B. Welch '78, of Victoria, Minn., will receive honorary doctorates from Southwest Baptist University during the annual Founders' Day chapel service at 10 a.m. Monday, March 5, in Pike Auditorium. SBU awards honorary doctorates to recognize outstanding individuals who have made significant contributions to society and to kingdom work.

SBU's Wind Symphony to present 'Winds and Friends' on March 8

The Southwest Baptist University Department of Music will present "Winds and Friends," featuring the SBU Wind Symphony, at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, March 8, in Pike Auditorium on the Bolivar campus.

Two SBU students to be crowned Mr. and Miss Southwest

Southwest Baptist University continues the tradition of honoring one male and one female student each year at the annual Mr. and Miss Southwest Pageant, which takes place this year at 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 2, in Pike Auditorium on the SBU campus.

Langford recognized with Honors Program brunch

Dr. Allison Langford, associate provost for teaching and learning at Southwest Baptist University, recently was honored with a brunch recognizing her immeasurable contribution to the Gordon and Judy Dutile Honors Program at SBU.

Author Suzanne Woods Fisher to present a reading, discussion on March 5

The Barnett-Padgett Literary Artist Series of Southwest Baptist University will be presenting author Suzanne Woods Fisher in a reading and discussion of her works from 6-7 p.m., Monday, March 5, in Meyer Recital Hall on the Bolivar campus.

SBU CIS advisory board, career fair open doors for students

Southwest Baptist University's 2018 Computer and Information Sciences (CIS) Department Advisory Board met on Feb. 16 in the newly renovated Taylor Free Enterprise Center on the Bolivar campus, in conjunction with the Robert W. Plaster College of Business and Computer Science Spring Career Fair.

Teacher candidates from the Southwest Baptist University campuses at Mountain View and Salem recently began their student teaching this semester in area elementary, middle school and high school classrooms.

SBU establishes scholarship fund for donations in honor of Dr. Taylor

As the search for Southwest Baptist University's 25th president moves forward, the C. Pat Taylor Annual Scholarship Fund has been established for individuals wanting to make a gift in honor of Dr. Taylor, who will retire as president of SBU on Aug. 31.
