SBU is serious about protecting the safety of our students and employees, including when they travel on behalf of the University. Whether it is a CGC missions group or an athletic team headed to an away game, SBU has processes and resources in place to promote travel safety.
SBU has an active travel crisis management team and policy, and provides support for any kind of travel connected to the University. This could include athletic teams traveling for competition, CGC mission teams, or even international students traveling to Bolivar to study here. Pre-travel training varies based on the destination and reason for travel, but may include regular training meetings, safety training, support establishing contingency plans, coordinating emergency procedures, etc.
Regardless of the destination or reason for travel, all students and employees traveling for the University complete a travel registry (accessible to employees through the MySBU portal). This ensures University officials are aware of the travel, emergency contact information is on file and an assessment is made for any further training that may be needed.
