At SBU we know college is a big investment, which is why we are committed to providing the most affordable and highest-quality Christian education you can access. The majority of students attending SBU receive final aid through a combination of university, federal, state, and private aid resources.

Mountain View Tuition and Costs

Tuition and lab fees are due before the first day of the semester unless other financial arrangements have been made in advance. 

Tuition (per creadit hour) is $195

Technology fee per semester:

  • 12 or more credit hours, $162
  • 6-11 credit hours, $155
  • 1-5 credit hours, $135

Assessment fee:

  • Full-time students, $30
  • Part-time students, $25

Other fees may apply to specific courses (such as science labs, computer lab, etc.).

A finance charge of 9% per year is assessed on all balances due past 30 days.

SBU has been recognized as a military-friendly school and participates in tuition assistance opportunities for veterans and active-duty military members and their dependents. A designated staff member is available to answer questions and help students utilize their educational benefits.

You may purchase textbooks for your courses beginning two weeks before the start of the term. Textbooks must be paid for when placing an order and can be purchased online through the SBU Campus Store.

  • Class Schedules - You must meet with an advisor prior to enrolling. Call (417) 934-2999 to schedule an appointment. Enrollment continues through the first day of the semester. You are enrolled in class at the time of registration. You will be notified if there is a course cancellation fee. The University reserves the right to cancel any course if enrollment is insufficient. All tuition and fees will be refunded in the event of a canceled course.

  • Current Crime & Fire Report
The Pell Grant is awarded only to undergraduate students with exceptional financial need and have not earned a bachelor's, graduate, or professional degree. (In some cases, however, a student enrolled in a post baccalaureate teacher certification program might receive a Federal Pell Grant.) A Federal Pell Grand, unlike a loan, does not have to be repaid, except under certain circumstances.
