Open to all undergraduate students on the Bolivar campus, the minor in undergraduate research will enhance your undergraduate experience. In this minor, you will acquire basic skills needed for research, you will learn the research techniques that will help you design a project, you will perform an original research project for at least two semesters, and you will present your findings to the students and faculty at the SBU Undergraduate Research Symposium.

The minor in undergraduate research will provide you with a unique skill set that will make you a desirable candidate for various careers, graduate schools, and professional schools.

Faith Integration

Research is an opportunity to learn more about the way that God designed the world, created people with unique backgrounds and cultures, established scientific laws, and instilled creativity and art in human beings. Faculty encourage the integration of their faith in the exploration of research projects. Integrity will be of upmost importance in performing research in a manner that is consistent with Biblical principles.

Minor in Undergraduate Research

Students who perform undergraduate research at SBU will have the opportunity to complete the Minor in Undergraduate Research along with their declared major. Open to all undergraduate students on the Bolivar campus, the Minor in Undergraduate Research teaches students how to perform research and provides an avenue for them to complete a project and present their findings. The Minor is composed of four components:

Students will acquire the most general skills needed to perform research across all fields.
