Health Professions Degrees

The College of Health Professions at Southwest Baptist University offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs in nursing, radiography, health sciences, and physical therapy, designed for students to pursue a health-care education in a Christ-centered environment.

Three divisions are housed within the College of Health Professions:

Associate Level Nursing and Health Sciences

ASN Program (Springfield Campus)

The associates degree of science in nursing is a two year program that prepares students to become registered nurses. Many students after completing this associate's degree, go on to study in the RN-BSN completion program to earn their bachelor's degree. The flexibility of this program sets students up to succeed and has helped contribute to the impressive graduate job placement rate of 98%.

ASN Bridge Program (Salem or Springfield Campuses)

The ASN Bridge program allows students who already have an LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) or Paramedic license to complete a degree to become an RN (Registered Nurse).

Radiography

Radiography is the study of medical imaging techniques. This includes learning to use X-rays to help diagnose injuries. Radiography can be used in a variety of fields including the dental, mammography, orthopedic, and chiropractic fields.

The 2-year associate program in radiography includes extensive clinical training and real, hands-on experience. Radiography students benefit from small class sizes. The close instruction from faculty provides opportunities for individualized instruction, academic guidance and networking.

Bachelor and Graduate Level Nursing and Health Sciences

Pre-Licensure BSN (Bolivar Campus)

The Pre-Licensure BSN program on Bolivar’s campus offers both online and in class learning. SBU's bachelor of science in nursing degree will equip you with the education, skills training and leadership preparation you need to be a successful nurse in today's society. For those interested in continuing their education, students can pursue a masters degree in either nursing education or nursing administration.

The nursing program at SBU offers associates, bachelors, and masters degrees. Our nursing program students receive a high-quality, Christian higher education in partnership with the nationally recognized healthcare system, Mercy Health System. There are options for nursing degrees on both the Springfield and Bolivar campuses.

RN-BSN Nursing Program (Springfield Campus)

The flexibility of this program sets students up to succeed and has helped contribute to the impressive graduate job placement rate of 95%.

Health Sciences

The health sciences degrees at SBU offer both a clinical and a non-clinical track. These programs are for anyone in the healthcare industry wanting to continue their education. The health sciences degree can be applied to a variety of professions including medical technology, billing and coding, respiratory therapy, radiologic technology, and dental hygiene.

The experienced faculty on staff help both students in the associates program and the bachelors program achieve their career goals. The associates degree in health sciences is specifically for those interested in gaining a foundational knowledge of the field. The bachelors program, whether in the clinical or non-clinical track, is perfect for those already working full-time or wanting to explore more leadership opportunities.
