Due to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, the SBU Honors Piano Festival (originally scheduled for April 25) has been cancelled.
Meet the SBU Piano Faculty
Dr. Melinda Smashey Jones
Dr. Jones received her B.M. degree from SBU, and her M.M. and D.M.A. degrees from
the University of Missouri-Kansas City. An active recitalist, accompanist, and chamber
musician, she also is the keyboardist for the Springfield Symphony Orchestra and maintains
a private piano studio with students ranging from first grade through high school.
She currently serves as pianist at the First Baptist Church of Bolivar. Dr. Jones
has received performance awards from competitions sponsored by the National Federation
of Music Clubs, the Beethoven Society, the Missouri Music Teachers Association, and
the Music Teachers National Association.
