College Preparatory Championships — November 20-21, 2025

The College Preparatory Championships are returning to Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Mo., November 20-21, 2025! 

This annual event highlights the academic quality found in Christian K-12 schools. Bring your highest-achieving academic students and compete against other teams! The top six individual students in each academic category will receive medals, and the top three schools will receive trophies.

Note: Homeschool students must belong to a Christian homeschool co-op or be willing to sign SBU's statement of faith.

Schedule Overview

Thursday, November 20 — Art, Music and Theater Festivals

The art, music and theater competitions will run festival-style from 3-6 p.m.

  • Music: Students will perform a solo selection. Accompaniment is not required, but is preferred for voice performances. Vocalists may supply their own pianist, but one will be provided. Selections should be five minutes or less; movements from larger works are accepted.
  • Theatre: Students will perform a solo monologue, solo dance (with accompanying track) or solo musical theater work. Performances should be five minutes or less.
  • Visual and Commercial Art: Students may submit up to two recent artworks. Acceptable submissions include digital images, photography, paintings, mixed media, drawings, ceramics, sculpture, textiles/fibers, printmaking, and more. All submissions must be original works of art created by the student and should not plagiarize from other artworks or publications of any kind. Southwest Baptist University reserves the right to reject artwork not in alignment with core institutional values.

Friday, November 21 — Academic Testing

Twelve categories of academic testing will be available for student competition. Testing will occur in the morning between 8 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Lunch will be provided after testing. An awards ceremony will be held in the afternoon. The event will conclude by 3:30 p.m. Each student may compete in up to two academic testing categories, listed below.

  • College Algebra
  • Computer Science 1
  • English Grammar
  • Foundations of Computer Science
  • New Testament
  • Old Testament
  • Psychology
  • Spanish
  • Fitness and Wellness
  • Medical Terminology

Event attendees also will have the opportunity to tour SBU's campus including state-of-the-art academic areas such as the nursing simulation lab and cybersecurity lab.
