During her time at Southwest Baptist University, Maggie Evans ’19 was reminded that
her life “is meant to be on mission,” and that spiritual and academic experience at
SBU prepared her for her career as the Women’s Director of Nashville KLIFE.
“My purpose is to bear Christ’s image and be a light wherever He leads,” said Maggie, who earned her bachelor of science degree in elementary education. “I learned the value and sweet gift of community that the Lord has given for us as believers and will forever now fight for that.”
After graduating from SBU, Maggie went on to study at and graduate from the Kanakuk Institute in Branson, Mo. There, she expanded upon her biblical training and leadership skills before moving on to Nashville, Tenn., as the Women’s Director of Nashville KLIFE – part of KLIFE Ministries.
“We partner alongside families, schools, and the local church to impact a youth culture for Christ,” Maggie said of Nashville KLIFE. “Our mission is to point students to Jesus so they will know Him, love Him, walk in surrender to Him and be equipped to point others to Him, also.”
That connection to KLIFE began and developed while Maggie was a student at SBU.
“SBU’s passion for missions and community connected me with Polk County KLIFE, where I began to grow in my relationship with the Lord and learned what discipleship was,” Maggie said. “The fruit of that ministry and the heartbeat being discipleship, were why I applied to work for KLIFE Ministries full time.”
And, it is that focus on missions that, Maggie says, makes SBU unique and helped her grow in her Christian faith.
“It was the first time away from home – out from under my parents,” Maggie said. “And, it became my relationship with Jesus, not my parents’. I began living for something greater than myself.
“SBU created a space for fun and intentional spiritual community. And, I am so thankful for the memories and friends I have to remind me of such a sweet season in my life!”
