For Brooke Dudley, the Christian environment and nurturing community at SBU made all
the difference as she prepared for a successful career in the business world. Brooke
graduated from SBU with a degree in computer information science and now works as
a technical business analyst at Jack Henry & Associates.
“SBU academics provided real-life projects to prepare me for the working world,” recalled Brooke. “I was challenged with issues in my schoolwork just as I am today in my career. Without the hands-on learning I received at SBU, I would not have been adequately prepared for my career.”
Beyond just academic and career preparation, the intentional integration of Christian faith had a significant impact on Brooke.
“I love SBU because professors make Christ a priority inside and outside the classroom,” said Brooke. “I always felt at ease knowing my professors were constantly praying for the success of their students.”
SBU faculty set an example of Christ-centered servant leadership that Brooke hopes to emulate both professionally and personally.
“My professors showed me that treating people as Christ does is important in business relationships,” stated Brooke. “The faculty have a genuine interest in the students and are willing to do whatever it takes to guide them to success. I have been able to follow their example in my career as well as in my personal life.”
As she reflects on her time as an SBU student, Brooke recognizes the value of a Christian education and tells others that SBU is a “Christ-centered school that sticks to Biblical values.” These values and principles learned at SBU continue to influence Brooke as she impacts those around her.
