SBU to host world music concert

The Southwest Baptist University Concert Choir and Bolivar Community Choir will present a world music concert at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 29, in Pike Auditorium on the SBU campus.

The program will include music from Russia, Ireland, Greece, Latin America and Africa. Some of the selections include two movements of Sergei Rachmaninoff’s “All-Night Vigil”; “Dúlamán,” a traditional Irish folk song; Stephen Hatfield’s “La Lluvia”; Z. Randall Stroope’s “Tarantella”; György Orbán’s famous “Daemon Irrepit Callidus”; and Jim Papoulis’ “Gnothi Safton,” the performance of which will feature boomwackers, which are tuned plastic percussion tubes.

Grace Notes, Ozark Junior High School girls honor choir, will accompany the SBU Concert Choir and Bolivar Community Choir for several of the evening’s selections.
