The Southwest Baptist University Department of Music presents the Wind Symphony and Percussion Ensemble in concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 21, in Pike Auditorium on the SBU campus.
“The musical program for this performance features well-known wind band works written by world-class composers,” said conductor Dr. Brian Hopwood, professor of music and director of instrumental studies. “The pieces by Vincent Persichetti (‘Divertimento’) and Gustav Holst (‘First Suite in E-Flat’) are cornerstone works of the repertoire. Clifton Williams’ ‘The Sinfonians’ is a classic representative of the concert march style and ‘Hold This Boy and Listen’ is a new addition to the ever-expanding wind band repertoire by award-winning composer Carter Pann.”
The Percussion Ensemble is conducted by Marc Baker, percussion faculty associate.
