BOLIVAR, Mo. – Southwest Baptist University received a generous gift from Windstream
on Thursday, Sept. 28, as part of the renovation project of the Gene Taylor National
Free Enterprise Center.
Terry Lockhart, network operations manager for Windstream, said he is pleased that the company is able to give back.
“We’ve been a partner of SBU for years and worked with Dr. Pat Taylor (SBU president) on several projects,” Lockhart said. “It is an opportunity for us to give back to the community and support our local businesses.”
Taylor said the University appreciates Windstream’s partnership, support and friendship.
“From our perspective, Windstream has been a great partner, not only as a donor, but as a vendor as well,” Taylor said. “We use several of Windstream’s products here on campus and they’ve always been very supportive. We certainly appreciate their financial support. They’ve helped us with numerous projects through the years.”
The gift is part of the funding for the renovation, which ended up costing $3,223,000.00, with $3,225,526.00 having been raised.
“This generous support from Windstream goes toward that project, and has been designated to a sponsorship of one of the academic classrooms on the second floor of the building,” Taylor said. “Their commitment to the business building, to sponsor a classroom in our renovated and expanded Gene Taylor National Free Enterprise Center, has been a great help.”
