SBU Trumpet Ensemble performs at Midwest Trumpet Festival

BOLIVAR, Mo. – The Southwest Baptist University Trumpet Ensemble, under the direction of Tim Wootton, performed at the Midwest Trumpet Festival on Oct. 7-8 at the Bicknell Family Center for the Arts on the Pittsburg (Kan.) State University campus.

SBU's Trumpet Ensemble performed at the Midwest Trumpet Festival.This year marks the 10th anniversary of the festival, which brings together leading trumpet performers and educators from across the Midwest and the United States. More than a dozen university trumpet professors, their students, area band directors and trumpet enthusiasts were among the hundreds in attendance.

The SBU Trumpet Ensemble performed in the College Student Spotlight Recital, featuring both trumpet ensembles and solo performances from university students. A recording of the performance may be found on the SBU Music Department Facebook page: https://bit.ly/2RaSMrU.

In addition to performing, SBU students were able to attend masterclasses, clinics, interviews, recitals and concerts with world-class artists. The featured guest artists at this year's festival were Wayne Bergeron (International Soloist and Studio Recording Artist) and Julian Kaplan (Principal Trumpet, Kansas City Symphony).
