BOLIVAR, Mo. — The Southwest Baptist University Showcase Singers will present “Rock Around the Clock!!” at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, March 30, in the Meyer Recital Hall of Casebolt Music Center on the Bolivar campus.
The Showcase Singers will be joined by other cast members in presenting a high-energy retrospective of the music and entertainment of the 1950s. The production features 15 of the top hits of the decade as well as other entertainment.
“It was an age of innocence and also evolution in terms of the popular music of that time,” said Dr. James R. Tarrant, director of choral studies at SBU. “It was the formative years of the television variety show, and the production includes elements of comedy, dance, music and commercials that reflect the fabulous era.”
The Showcase Singers, directed by Tarrant, are comprised of Hunter Moore, Ilene Adair, Alli Leiker, Kelsey Nichol, Brittany Tarrant, Christian Jaynes, Cameron Collins, Seth Stelzer and Zach Shelton. Also slated to appear are Delrae Glidwell, Austin Hicks, Emily Jaynes, Carie Parker, Sarah Tarrant, Caleb Holden and Austin Bryant.
Admission to the performance is free and open to the public.
