SBU to host Fulbright Alumni Ambassador workshop

Southwest Baptist University will be hosting a Fulbright Alumni Ambassador workshop for teachers, administrators and students who are interested in learning about the Fulbright Scholar Program at 10 a.m., Friday, Sept. 9, in room 101 of the Wheeler Science Center on the Bolivar campus.

Dr. Perry Tompkins, dean of the College of Science and Mathematics at SBU, will share his experiences as a Fulbright Scholar to Ecuador in 2007 and how he and other scholars returned to their campuses with new perspectives on their fields and fresh ideas for further international engagement.

Tompkins was recently appointed to serve a two-year term as a Fulbright Scholar Alumni Ambassador. Learn more about his Fulbright experience at http://www.cies.org/alumni-ambassadors/perry-tompkins.

The Fulbright Ambassador Program trains and utilizes a select group of Fulbright Scholar alumni from the full spectrum of U.S. academic disciplines, higher education institutions and geographic regions to serve as representatives for the Fulbright Scholar Program at campus workshops and academic conferences across the United States.

To reserve a seat for this free workshop, please contact Brenda McGill at (417) 328-1659 or bmcgill@SBUniv.edu. Space is limited, so please RSVP by Thursday, Sept. 8.
