SBU Concert, Bolivar Community choirs to present Spring concert

BOLIVAR, Mo. — The Southwest Baptist University Concert Choir and Bolivar Community Choir will present a concert at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 3, in Pike Auditorium on the Bolivar campus.

Under the direction of Dr. Andrew Campbell, associate professor of music at SBU, the choirs will open the program with “Love Changes Everything,” arranged by Ed Lojeski, from “Aspects of Love” by Andrew Lloyd Webber. “Rejoice in the Lamb,” by Benjamin Britten, will feature Mary Elliot (soprano), Hollie Slagaugh (mezzo-soprano), Ian Poe (tenor) and Joel Wally (baritone), accompanied by Dr. Melinda Jones, assistant professor of music, on piano. “Go Down, Moses,” by Adolphus Hailstork, will feature Cameron Collins (bass), with “Swingin’ with the Saints” closing the program.

“The concert is about love, and that includes love for a significant other and love for your own child,” Campbell said. “The program also is sacred in nature and includes a number of spirituals at the end of the concert.”

The concert is free and open to the public.
