Miller Management Systems establishes SBU Accounting scholarship

Miller Management Systems, LLC (MMS) has established the MMS Excellence in Non-Profit Accounting and Leadership Scholarship to benefit top Southwest Baptist University accounting students, starting with the 2016-2017 academic year.

“We are pleased to be able to establish this unique scholarship opportunity at SBU,” said Miller Management Systems owner and CEO Glenn Miller. “As technology, government regulation, reporting requirements and fraud are all increasing, ministries and non-profits need to raise the standard of accountability along with their level of administrative sophistication. By providing scholarships and internships in church accounting and not-for-profit accounting, we at Miller Management Systems hope to train and inspire accounting students to consider this field for a career option.”

Miller Management Systems is a Kansas City, Mo.-based accounting firm dedicated to serving church and other nonprofit clients with a variety of accounting and information technology services in the Kansas City, St. Louis, and Springfield areas.

“SBU Accounting is very appreciative of the beneficial relationship with Miller Management Systems,” said Wayne Clark, professor and chair of the SBU accounting department. “They have visited our campus to interview our students and have also made presentations to SBU’s Accounting Club and the Bolivar community about important church-related financial practices. Several of our graduates enjoy productive careers at their firm. We look forward to this relationship growing even stronger with their investment in scholarships at SBU.”
