Southwest Baptist University’s Barnett-Padgett Literary Artist Series will feature Dr. Jordan Cofer at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 31, in room 230 in the Jester Learning and Performing Center on the SBU campus. His talk, entitled "The Gospel According to Flannery O'Connor," will be followed by a question and answer time.
Cofer serves as associate professor of English and assistant vice president for academic affairs and learning resources at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton, Ga. After graduating from SBU in 2003, he earned his master's degree at Virginia Tech and Ph.D. from Texas Tech University. He has published two books: “The Gospel According to Flannery O'Connor” and “Writing the Nation: A Concise Introduction to American Literature 1865 to Present.”
The event is free and open to the public as a presentation of the Barnett-Padgett Literary Artist Series, established in 1999 in honor of alumni Gene A. Barnett and Tom E. Padgett by a gift from Marjorie Barnett, sister of Gene A. Barnett. The series brings notable authors and speakers to SBU.
