Parrish, Zwicky selected as SBU Homecoming King and Queen

BOLIVAR, Mo. — Taylor Parrish and Kendra Zwicky were announced as the 2017 Southwest Baptist University Homecoming King and Queen at halftime of the Bearcats’ football game against Quincy University on Sept. 23.

Students nominated five seniors as candidates for Homecoming King and five candidates for Homecoming Queen.

hoco.king.queen.2017Parrish is a management and marketing major from Blue Springs. He is the son of Don and Kim Parrish. After graduation, he plans to pursue his master’s degree in business administration or return home to Blue Springs and find a job in his field.

Kendra Zwicky is a management major from Clever. She is the daughter of Beth and James Yarber.

King candidates

Matt Gaskin is a Christian ministry major from Lawrence, Kan. He is the son of John and Rhonda Gaskin. After graduation, he plans to attend seminary and become a worship leader.

Michael Parks is an economics/finance major from Clinton. He is the son of Michael and Michele Parks. After graduation, he hopes to become a personal financial planner or loan officer.

Joseph Reyes is a computer science and mathematics major from West Plains. He is the son of Priscilla and Matt Owsley. After graduation, he plans to get his MBA at SBU and work with Bethesda Softworks to develop entertaining virtual reality systems.

Jacob Saatmann is a history and political science major from Forest City, Iowa. He is the son of Jim and Kristie Reuchin and the late Greg Saatmann. After graduation, he plans to become president – not of the United States – but of a small club or organization.

Queen candidates

Erin Ashcraft is an intercultural studies and studio art major, with an emphasis in two-dimensional art, from Monticello, Ark. She is the daughter of Debbie and Chester Ashcraft. After graduation, she would like to travel the world and open her own art studio/gallery.

Jacey Collins is a psychology major, with minors in counseling and intercultural studies, from Springfield. She is the daughter of John and Edie Collins. After graduation, she plans to attend graduate school.

Hunter Moore is a music education major from Fond du Lac, Wis. She is the daughter of Chris and Brenny Moore. After graduation, she hopes to teach elementary and/or choral music.

Jessica Tankersley is an organizational and strategic communication major from Branson. She is the daughter of Rawn and Annette Tankersley. After graduation, she would like to travel the world.

In addition, princes and princesses for the freshman, sophomore and junior classes were chosen by their peers.

Princes

Will Raines is a freshman management major from Marshall. He is the son of Mary Beth and John Raines.

Grant Teichmeier is a sophomore biblical studies major, with a minor in biology, from Camdenton. He is the son of Dr. Terry and Cherie Teichmeier.

Blaise Torrence is a junior organizational and strategic communication and public relations major from Festus. He is the son of Daniel Torrence and Chastity Torrence.

Princesses

Danielle Sommers is a freshman exercise science major from Blue Springs. She is the daughter of Sean and Amy Sommers.

Marissa Mangner is a sophomore nursing major from St. Louis. She is the daughter of Catherine Mangner.

Kayla Kramer is a junior elementary education major from Gardner, Kan. She is the daughter of Kevin and Renee Kramer.
