Southwest Baptist University will host the SBU Student Show and Competition art exhibition Tuesday, March 29 through Friday, April 8. The show features pieces submitted by students across campus in mediums including drawing, painting, fibers, graphic art, ceramics, sculpture, printmaking and photography.
“I am excited for the public to view our students’ work currently on display in the gallery,” said Dawn Katzer, SBU instructor of art and director of the Driskill Art Gallery. “This show is a great representation of a variety of art mediums. Viewers will get to see work from all the different areas that make up the art department along with other work that has been submitted from our non-art majors. This show is a great opportunity to view the artistic talents that are throughout our campus.”
The artwork will be judged the week of April 4. First through fourth place awards will be given out in each medium; winners will receive ribbons, gift certificates and art supplies.
A reception for the exhibit will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 7, in the Driskill Art Gallery, situated on the SBU campus in the Jester Learning and Performance Center. The Driskill Art Gallery is free of admission and open to the public on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
