SBU's Johnson selected to serve on CIAO Commission

Dr. Brad Johnson, vice president for university relations at Southwest Baptist University, has been appointed to serve on the Chief Institutional Advancement Officer Commission of the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities.

Brad Johnson“It’s an honor to be asked to serve the CCCU in this way,” Johnson said. “The chief institutional advancement officers from around the nation gather every year for a conference, and a big part of our duties will be to plan the programming and plan that event.

“In addition to that, we’re asked to serve in an advisory role to the president of the CCCU on matters of advancement for alumni relations, fundraising and public relations.”

As a CIAO commission member, Johnson will serve a three-year term, which began July 1, with the term renewable once at the discretion of the CCCU president. Johnson is one of seven members of the commission, which is led by a staff liaison.

The CCCU is a higher education association of 180 Christian institutions around the world, according to its website. The 117 institutions in North America are regionally accredited and rooted in the arts and sciences.

“I’m happy to serve on the Commission and am pleased to be a part of this great organization,” Johnson said. “CCCU does a lot of wonderful things beyond advancement to support the mission efforts of our Christian colleges. They support professional development opportunities for faculty and staff, student research and study abroad and serve as an advocate for the cause of Christian higher education on a global scale.”
