BOLIVAR, Mo. – Jennifer Smith will present a Southwest Baptist University alumni organ recital at 3 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 29, at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Bolivar.
In honor of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, selected works will include an arrangement of Ein Feste Berg and various Johann Sebastian Bach chorale tunes. Selections also will include hymn arrangements and other service-appropriate music and will conclude with the “Prelude and Fugue in F Major” from the “Little Preludes and Fugues” of Bach.
Smith received her bachelor of science in general music with an emphasis in piano and a minor in church music from SBU in 1982. She studied piano with Suzanne Heifner Adams and Dr. Bill Brown, and organ with Susan Baker. After decades of providing service music for churches, primarily at the piano, Smith is the current organist at St. Alban’s.
