Mary Martin accepts SBU Accounting Faculty Position

Mary Martin Dr. Mary Andrews Martin has rejoined the faculty of Southwest Baptist University for the Fall 2026 semester, accepting the position of Associate Professor of Accounting. 

She rejoins the university after previously serving in higher education at Southwest Baptist University and Drury University. 

"Returning to my hometown to serve at Southwest Baptist University is a meaningful opportunity," said Dr. Martin, "I look forward to integrating my faith into the classroom while investing in the next generation of students."

Dr. Martin will take over teaching SBU's accounting classes, following Jenell Wagner's retirement after 19 years of service to SBU.

Her dissertation from her Ph.D. in Business Administration with a Concentration in Advanced Accounting from Northcentral University was titled “Unpreparedness of Entry-Level Accountants".

SBU’s Division of Business offers bachelor’s degrees in Business and Accounting. SBU's accounting degree prepares graduates for diversified careers in the practice of public accounting, not-for-profit accounting, internal auditing, federal taxation, and general accounting management, all with a Christ-centered worldview in order to prepare the graduates to be servant leaders in a global society.
