BOLIVAR, Mo. – Southwest Baptist University’s Cybersecurity and Computer Science programs have been successfully reaccredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), reaffirming the university’s commitment to academic excellence and high-quality computing education. ABET accreditation is widely recognized as the gold standard for computing, engineering, and technology programs, assuring students, employers, and stakeholders that graduates are prepared to meet rigorous professional standards.
As part of the review process, SBU received the maximum five-year reaccreditation, extending the accreditation of both programs through 2031. The reaccreditation confirms that SBU continues to meet ABET’s rigorous standards for curriculum quality, faculty expertise, student outcomes, and continuous improvement.

Southwest Baptist University is one of only two evangelical Christian universities in the United States with an ABET-accredited Cybersecurity program, making it a distinctive destination for students seeking nationally recognized cybersecurity education within a Christ-centered environment.
The Division of Computing and Mathematics at SBU offers degree programs in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, Software Engineering, Web Systems & Design, Cybersecurity Operations and Management, Mathematics, and Mathematics Education. These programs combine technical rigor, hands-on learning, and faith integration to prepare graduates for successful careers in a rapidly evolving technology landscape.
