Announcing the 2026 Mr. and Miss Southwest Candidates

Ten candidates have been selected for the 2026 Mr. and Miss Southwest pageant taking place on Southwest Baptist University's Bolivar campus on March 7th, 2026 in Pike Auditorium. These candidates were nominated by SBU faculty and staff and will be voted on by the student body during the pageant to select this year's Mr. and Miss Southwest. The voting will take place during the pageant, which will include opportunities to learn more about the candidates through everything from introductory videos, to talent presentations, and a Q/A session.

Get to know this year's Miss Southwest candidates:

  • Daveigh Chappell is a graphic design major from Windyville, MO. Her mother, Tammy Chappell, is an SBU alumna. Her plans for after graduation include being creative, working on her design business, continuing to make music, and running ultra-races when she has the time. 
  • Josie Glasgow is an elementary education major from Grove, OK. Her father, Ed Glasgow, is an SBU alumnus. After graduation she plans to serve the Lord and start a family with her fiancé Colby Miller. 
  • Clara Wirth is a social work major from Bolivar, MO. Both of her parents, Leon and Michelle Wirth, are alumni from the class of 1993. Clara plans to use her degree to serve kids and youth in a ministry setting and hopes to take a backpacking trip through Europe with friends after she graduates. 
  • Kelsey Snowden is an English major with dual minors in journalism and piano pedagogy from Warrensburg, MO. After graduation Kelsey hopes to secure a position as an editor or journalist, teach piano, and marry her boyfriend Leo Henderson. 
  • Ellie Barker is a missions and communications major from Peculiar, MO. Ellie plans to work on the mission field either here in the US or overseas after she graduates. 

Get to know this year's Mr. Southwest candidates:

  • Colby Miller is a Biblical studies major with a psychology minor from Dewey, OK. He hopes to work for a church and be a good husband to his future wife, Josie Glasgow. 
  • Kaleb Nail is a mathematics and computer science major from Lebanon, MO. Both of his parents, Ben and Trisha Nail, are alumni from the class of 1999. His plans for after graduation include following God's plan and hopefully working in missions, ministry, or both.
  • Kaden Hensley is a middle school math education and mathematics major from Istanbul, Turkey. After graduating he plans to teach middle school math and either move overseas to teach or earn his master's degree to further his education here in the US.
  • Case Warson is a physical education major from Lebanon, MO. Both of his parents, Nathan and Carrie Warson, are alumni. Case plans to teach physical education after graduating and he is also considering coaching. 
  • Joel Gammon is an organizational and strategic communication major double minoring in business and political science from Springfield, MO. Both his parents, Jeff ('94) and Kristen ('96) Gammon and grandparents Jack and Winnie Tuckness ('68), are alumni of SBU. His plan for after graduation is to work in real estate for a few years before moving into politics later in life. Joel also wants to settle down, start a family, and be an active member in his community. 

The “Miss Southwest” pageant dates back to the 1930s, with “Mr. Southwest” being added in 1963. The pageant is also a part of Bearcat Days, a two-day admissions visit event where admitted students considering SBU are invited to stay overnight on campus and experience all that SBU has to offer.
