SBU Welcomes Dr. Jonathon Woodyard as Vice President for Student Life

Jonathon WoodyardSouthwest Baptist University has named Dr. Jonathon Woodyard as Vice President for Student Life. The VP of Student Life is the chief student-personnel officer of the University and advises the President on all matters pertaining to co-curricular educational programs and the overall Bearcat student experience. The VP of Student Life will work to ensure an unforgettable student experience.  

"Southwest Baptist University has a long history of graduating men and women who are ready to make a positive difference in the world,” said Woodyard. “It is truly a privilege to join Dr. Melson and the team at SBU in order to raise up future generations of servant leaders who will make a global impact for Jesus Christ. Woodyard previously served as the Dean of Admissions and Assistant Professor of Theology and History at Bethlehem College and Seminary (Minneapolis, MN) and Adjunct Professor at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (Kansas City, MO). Before serving at Bethlehem College and Seminary, Woodyard was founding pastor of Northfield Community Church, a North American Mission Board church plant in Northfield, Minnesota. Woodyard is also a U.S. Army veteran whose overseas services included a tour in Iraq. He currently serves as a chaplain in the United States Army Reserve.  

Woodyard earned his Th.M. and Ph.D. in Historical Theology from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, a M.Div. from Bethlehem College and Seminary (MN), and Bachelor of Arts in Biblical and Theological Studies from Boyce College (KY). 

“I am delighted that Dr. Jonathon Woodyard will join the SBU as Vice President for Student Life,” said President Rick Melson. “Jonathon is an adaptable, results-oriented leader who will provide strong support to the student life team. He is also a gifted communicator, teacher, and preacher whose ministry experience will be an excellent contribution to our Executive Cabinet.” 

Woodyard will assume his role as the Vice President for Student Life on February 22. Please join us in welcoming Dr. Jonathon Woodyard.
