The Southwest Baptist University Division of The Arts will present its first concert of the semester on Thursday, September 22, 2022, at 7:30 pm in Pike Auditorium.
The concert will feature the Wind Symphony, Trumpet Ensemble under the direction of Tim Wootton, and Low Brass Ensemble under the direction of Dr. Terri Wehmeyer. The Wind Symphony will feature female trumpet player Hannah Laws on Gershwin's "Someone to Watch Over Me."
The band will play exciting classics such as The Sinfonians, Hounds of Spring, and the Rondo from Jager's Third Suite. The band is featuring a performance of female composer Shelley Hanson's "Return to the Mountain," which features harp player Ava Powell and flute player Meagan Moore. This concert will be the first conducted by SBU's new Director of Instrumental Studies, John Wilson, and is free and open to the public.
