Southwest Baptist University announces Dr. Bill DuVall as the Executive Director of Blair Center for Training and Pastoral Health. The center will support and encourage pastors and other leaders in ministry to navigate the stressors and demands that accompany leadership and ministry. At The Blair Center for Training and Pastoral Health, scripture will continue to be held in priority, being utilized as the highest authority and specific revelation of God, accompanied by learning about God through creation and experiences.
DuVall will develop a program and materials to help pastors avoid burnout and grow in their understanding of what their strengths and weaknesses are when dealing with common struggles of pastoral life. DuVall plans to accomplish this by developing online resources such as blogs and podcasts as well as in-person opportunities including retreats, workshops and roundtable discussions. The first major event that DuVall is planning will be a retreat for pastors and their wives in early 2023.
“With my background serving in various ministry positions, and my education and experience helping hurting people, I feel like God has been preparing me for this ministry opportunity all along. I have long believed that the message most worth teaching is the saving grace of Jesus. I am beyond excited to minister to pastoral staff and help them continue to fulfill their calling to share that message where God has placed them,” says DuVall.
DuVall has been with Southwest Baptist University for seven years as an associate professor of psychology. Prior to his role at SBU, he served as a professional counselor at Trinity Family Counseling Services. DuVall also has experience as an associate pastor and worship leader. During DuVall’s time at SBU he has received the Faculty Life Beautiful Award in 2021 and the Orien B. Hendrex Distinguished Teacher Award in 2020.
DuVall has a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Frostburg State University, a master's in Christian counseling from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, a master's of theology from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Ph.D. in psychology and counseling from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
Please join us in welcoming Dr. Bill DuVall as the new Executive Director of the Blair Center for Training and Pastoral Health.
