From the Board Chairman and the Interim President: Behavioral Sciences Division is not being changed or eliminated
Statement from Dr. Eddie Bumpers, Chairman, Southwest Baptist University Board of Trustees:
“Teaching and learning are at the core of who we are, whose we are, and what we are called to do at Southwest Baptist University. The Board of Trustees is thankful for the many highly valued and esteemed faculty members who generously serve in all academic divisions across the University.”
“As advocates of healthy, organizational communication, we want to specifically express our support for the Division of Behavioral Sciences and the vital degree programs housed within this division. From the Board’s perspective, a wide breadth of teaching approaches is necessary in order to honor the University’s principal commitment to successfully equip all SBU students to be servant-leaders in a global society. Moreover, Southwest Baptist University is not eliminating or changing the Division of Behavioral Sciences.”
“Graduates of these programs have a proven track record of providing a myriad of essential services in our communities, churches, and Missouri Baptist Convention entities. Professionals in social work, criminal justice, psychology, and sociology are vital for every segment of our society. We are grateful for faculty at SBU equipping Christians to fill these roles of civil service.”
Additional Statement of Support from Dr. Brad Johnson, SBU Interim President:
“There is a mental health crisis in our world today. More than ever, our world needs SBU graduates serving as the hands and feet of Christ in Behavioral Sciences. Our students are garnering the extensive training needed to assist with scores of mental health concerns while also shining the light that draws people to the love of Christ.”
