More than 150 students to graduate at SBU winter commencement ceremonies

BOLIVAR, Mo. — Southwest Baptist University is set to graduate 151 students at two winter 2019 commencement ceremonies. The bachelor degree ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, and the ceremony for all associate degree graduates is at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14. Both ceremonies will be held in the Jane and Ken Meyer Wellness and Sports Center.

Stephanie Penticuff, a bachelor of science in marketing graduate, will deliver the Bob R. Derryberry Senior Address, while Olivia Howard, a bachelor of music (church music) graduate, and Hailey Vernon, a bachelor of arts in intercultural studies and music graduate, will present the senior music at Friday’s ceremony. Brandon LaRocque, an associate of science in nursing graduate, will deliver the commencement address on Saturday.

Dr. Brittney Hendrickson ’08, ’11, ’12 will deliver the commencement address at the Friday ceremony. Dr. Hendrickson currently serves as the dean of the Mercy College of Nursing and Health Sciences. She previously served as a faculty member and program chair in both the Associate of Science in Nursing and Bachelor Science in Nursing departments at SBU.

Before returning to SBU as a faculty member, Dr. Hendrickson served in a variety of roles at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, most recently as a registered nurse on the orthopedic/medical surgical floor.

Dr. Hendrickson earned her ASN (’08), BSN (’11) and MSN (’12) from SBU, and her doctorate in nursing innovation and leadership from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2018.

Dr. Hendrickson has two daughters, Lauren and Madison, and their family attends Destiny Church in Republic.
