Homecoming queen - and king - candidates named

Southwest Baptist University students have nominated five seniors as candidates for Homecoming Queen – and, new this year, five candidates for Homecoming King. These candidates have been selected by their peers and the winning King and Queen will be announced at the homecoming football game at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1.

Queen candidates

Melody Dixon is a music education major from St. Charles. She is the daughter of Clark and Jeana Dixon. After graduation, she hopes to teach elementary music and continue to pursue God’s will in her life.

Tyler Hernandez is a psychology major, with a minor in counseling, from San Bernardino, Calif. She is the daughter of Michael and Debbie Hernandez. After graduation, she would like to become a counselor.

homecoming.courtKala Penticuff is a psychology major, with a minor in counseling, from Odessa. She is the daughter of Paul and Karyn Hunting. After graduation, she plans to attend graduate school and obtain a doctorate in neuropsychology.

Amanda Nissen is an elementary education major from South Weber, Utah. She is the daughter of Richard and Denise Nissen.

Rebecca Vold is an education major from Plymouth, Minn. She is the daughter of Peter and Amy Vold. After graduation, she plans to move to Kansas City and start graduate school in healthcare administration.

King candidates

Garrett Maxey is a Christian ministry major, with a concentration in youth ministry, from Monett. He is the son of Robert and Janell Maxey. After graduation, he plans to enter student ministry full time.

Seth Stelzer is a music major, with a minor in business administration, from Dakar, Senegal, and Neosho. He is the son of Don and Jana Stelzer. After graduation, he hopes to pursue a career in sound engineering in Nashville, Tenn.

Derrick Penticuff is an athletic training/pre-physical therapy major from Springfield. He is the son of Mark and Jill Penticuff. After graduation, he plans to pursue his doctor of physical therapy degree from SBU.

Chris Lynch is a biblical studies major from Blue Springs. He is the son of Steve and Lisa Lynch. After graduation, he plans to get married and go to graduate school.

Brice Benham is a Christian ministry major, with a concentration in children’s ministry, from Webb City. He is the son of Don and Melinda Benham. After graduation, he plans to get a job as a children’s pastor in a church.

In addition, princesses and princes for the freshman, sophomore and junior classes have been chosen by their peers.

Princesses

Alex Achucarro is a freshman biology major from Des Moines, Iowa. She is the daughter of Arnaldo and Julia Achucarro.

Ilene Adair is a sophomore general music/pre-physical therapy major from Overland Park, Kan. She is the daughter of Mike and Laura Adair.

Elizabeth Burris is a junior social work major, with a minor in counseling, from Shawnee, Kan. She is the daughter of Karl and Monica Burris.

Princes

Luke Winfrey is a freshman biblical studies major from Lebanon. He is the son of Larry and Sharon Winfrey.

George Ofori-Yeboah is a sophomore biology/chemistry major from Bolivar. He is the son of Kwasi and Janet Ofori-Yeboah.

Brock Langley is a junior intercultural studies major from Collins, Miss. He is the son of George and Melisa Langley.
