Condren given Outstanding Service Award

Dr. Tammy Condren, assistant professor of graduate education and doctorate of education in educational leadership coordinator at SBU, received the Outstanding Service Award from the Missouri Association of Elementary School Principals. Dr. Tammy Condren, assistant professor of graduate education and doctorate of education in educational leadership coordinator at SBU, received the Outstanding Service Award from the Missouri Association of Elementary School Principals (MAESP) at its state conference held March 14 in Osage Beach, Mo.

The award recognizes individuals who have made long term or significant contributions to the children of Missouri and to the elementary and middle level principals. Only 10 Outstanding Service Awards have been given since its establishment by the organization in 1994 because it is only awarded when the performance and contributions of an individual are so noteworthy and enduring as to establish consensus that the person should be so honored.

“It was very humbling knowing that there are not many others who have received this award, and those that have are highly respected in the field—I’m honored to be among them” Condren said. “In my career as an administrator I simply tried to always be doing what was good for children because in the long run the future is built on them.”

Prior to her current role, Condren was elementary principal of Marion C. Early R-5 Schools from1986 to 2013. Other past positions include SBU adjunct professor of education and graduate education from 1998 to 2013 and adjunct assistant professor of graduate education at Missouri State University and University of Missouri-Columbia from 2004 to 2006.

MAESP is the only statewide association in Missouri that exists for the purpose of serving the needs of elementary and middle school principals, assistant principals and those educators with an interest in becoming principals.
