Life Beautiful Awards
Southwest Baptist University is proud to announce the 2025 recipients of the Life Beautiful Award, the highest honor bestowed upon faculty and staff members who exemplify Christ-like behavior, actively engage in their church and community, strive for excellence in their work, and selflessly serve others through their roles at SBU.
Recipients must have faithfully served the University for at least four years and are nominated by their peers within the SBU community. A committee of faculty and staff members selects the winners. This year’s honorees are Dr. Amos Gichamba, recipient of the Faculty Life Beautiful Award, and Shae Miller, recipient of the Staff Life Beautiful Award.
Dr. Amos Gichamba, Faculty Life Beautiful Award Recipient
This year’s faculty life beautiful recipient has been an integral part of SBU for 7 years. Dr. Amos Gichamba completed his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Africa Nazarene University in 2007, his Master of Science in Information Technology from Strathmore University in 2012, and his Doctor of Philosophy in Information Systems from the University of Nairobi in 2017. Since 2021, he has served as the Head of the Computing and Mathematics Division. He has been instrumental in developing and teaching courses within our new Graduate Technologies programs. He successfully navigated the ABET accreditation process and assisted in the rollout of two cybersecurity certificates to attract students to SBU. He is a valued member of Southern Hills Baptist Church with his wife Carol, and their three children: Aaron, Joshua, and Esther.
“Dr. Gichamba approaches his work with intelligence and determination. He is thoughtful, compassionate, and remarkably hospitable. It would be difficult to find anyone who doesn’t hold Amos in high regard. Everything he does stems from a sincere love for the Lord and a genuine care for others.” remarked one of his colleagues.

Shae Miller, Staff Life Beautiful Award Recipient
Shae has been part of the SBU family since 2016. Throughout her time at the university, she has consistently invested in building strong, meaningful relationships across every department and with every person she encounters. She exemplifies what it means to “go above and beyond” for students, colleagues, and her community.
She began her career as an administrative assistant and admissions counselor, and in 2020, she stepped into her current role as the Campus Director at SBU–Mountain View. Outside of SBU, she serves faithfully in the Freeway Recovery Ministry at First Baptist Church in Mountain View, where she and her husband, Justin, are active members alongside their children—Ellee, Jax, Flynn, and Marlee.
When asked to describe Shae, this is what one of her colleagues had to say: "Shae is kind, considerate, and always willing to help. She goes out of her way to serve students, co-workers, and the Mountain View community. She works tirelessly to grow and strengthen the campus. She is faithful and displays an exceptional work ethic.”
Servant Leader Award
This award has been created to recognize individuals whose quiet, steadfast commitment strengthens our community in ways that are often unseen. It celebrates those who embody the very best of servant leadership—people who make a profound and lasting impact simply by showing up, lifting others, and serving with humility.
The SBU Servant Leadership Award is given to someone who leads not for applause or acknowledgment, but from a genuine desire to serve. It honors an individual whose influence is marked by compassion, integrity, and a consistent willingness to place the needs of others above their own. This year’s honoree is Robbie Bryant, recipient of the Servant Leader Award.
Robbie Bryant, Servant Leader Award Recipient
Robbie consistently goes above and beyond—not because anyone asks him to, but because he cares deeply about this place and the people who make it special. This year alone, he tirelessly led the renovation of the Springfield Campus while simultaneously directing the facilities team responsible for four campuses, more than one million square feet of space, and over 150 acres of property. Robbie is the person who steps in before the need is spoken, notices what others might overlook, and leads with grace, steadiness, and humility.
