Current program announcements:

  • Enroll in elective courses (Plus hours) for professional development by calling (417) 328-1700. (You can view available elective courses within the Graduate Education class schedule.)
  • Degrees are offered in fully online or hybrid formats. Check out the map for cohort locations to take classes in-person.
  • Educational Administration K-12 certification courses, Educational Administration degree courses and Education Specialist courses are now offered in Springfield, Mo., at the SBU Springfield campus. Request more information or call Todd Earl at (417) 328-1843.

Once you've found a degree program that interests you, fill out our online application. Then, send us a copy of your transcripts and test scores to help expedite the process. Use the links below to apply for the program of your choice.

Note: The application fee is waived for all SBU alumni!

  • Missouri Teaching Certificate, Passing Praxis II score, or Passing GRE score
  • Other specific requirements as needed for the Master of Science in Education - Educational Administration, Education Specialist, and Doctor of Education degrees

Enroll

Once you have been admitted to SBU's graduate education program and are ready to sign up for classes, submit the online Enrollment Form. You will need to know the course number, course section and course title for each course in which you wish to enroll.

Courses are typically scheduled in eight-week rotations, providing greater flexibility for students wishing to begin graduate education programs.

Submit for financial Aid

To receive any financial aid for which you may qualify, submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). SBU's recommended deadline for submitting the FAFSA is March 15. If you have questions about financial aid for graduate students, please call (417) 328-1822.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Master of Science in Education degrees in Curriculum and Instruction, Instructional Technology Leadership, and Teacher Leadership are all 100% online.

The Master of Science in Education degree in Athletic/Activity Administration is mostly online with the exception of a class in the summer terms. Students may attend this class face-to-face or remotely using Zoom.

We host in-person classes in Bolivar, Springfield, St. Louis, Mountain View, and Salem, Missouri.
There are three semesters per calendar year: spring, summer, and fall. Each semester has two terms. Many students take one class per term for a total of two classes per semester (six credit hours). Fall and spring semesters are 16 weeks, divided into 8-week terms. The summer semester is 8 weeks long, divided into 4-week terms.
You may apply at any time throughout the year; however, we only enroll for the next upcoming semester and terms. Each semester has two starts (beginning of first term and beginning of second term).
Tuition is due by the end of the day on the last day of the semester.
