SBU Math Contests

2018 SBU Math Contest — EVent Details

The SBU Department of Mathematics hosts an annual math contest for elementary and middle school students. While this is an independent event, the tests used are written by MathLeague and Missouri students can qualify for the next level of MCTM competition based on their performance at the SBU Math Contest.

Local schools are encouraged to use the SBU Math Contest as a warm-up for the regional MATHCOUNTS® (a Middle School Contest) contests in February and then use the contest results to help make decisions on which students should participate in later contests. The regional MATHCOUNTS® contest has limits on the number of students per grade level that can attend, but there are no such limits for the SBU Math Contest.

Date: Saturday, October 27, 2018
Grades: 4th-8th grades (this is an elementary and middle school contest held on the same day)
Registration: Reservations have already been made for the allotted 500 slots for the 2018 SBU Math Contest. If you wish to be placed on a waiting list in case of openings, please email Dr. Kevin Hopkins at khopkins@SBUniv.edu.
Other Details: Students and schools must be registered before the contest. Students arriving at the contest without the school already registered will not be able to participate. Schools who have submitted advance reservations will receive registration details via email in late September.
