The SBU Department of Mathematics hosts an annual math contest for elementary and middle school students. While this is an independent event, the tests used are written by MathLeague and Missouri students can qualify for the next level of MCTM competition based on their performance at the SBU Math Contest.
Local schools are encouraged to use the SBU Math Contest as a warm-up for the regional MATHCOUNTS® (a Middle School Contest) contests in February and then use the contest results to help make decisions on which students should participate in later contests. The regional MATHCOUNTS® contest has limits on the number of students per grade level that can attend, but there are no such limits for the SBU Math Contest.

Grades: 4th-8th grades (this is an elementary and middle school contest held on the same day)
