Sarah Jean VandaVeer is a junior Marketing and Public Relations double major from Pacific, MO. This is Sarah’s second year as director and she is passionate about welcoming new students to the SBU community. In her free time Sarah enjoys reading, doing stand up comedy, traveling, blogging, and meeting new people. After graduation, Sarah would love to move to Colorado and fall deeper in love with Jesus Christ.

Campus Connections Chair

Valerie Waddell is a sophomore Exercise Science major pursuing Physical Therapy from Olathe, KS. She loves cooking, adventuring, reading, listening to music, and awkward dancing. Valerie joined the Welcome Week Team as the Campus Connections Chair for Welcome Week in October, after serving as a group leader for Welcome Week in 2013. In the future she would like to travel a lot and serve the Lord as a Physical Therapist.

Media Connections Chair

Jordan Oberbeck is a freshman from Lebanon, MO. Currently Jordan is majoring in Art Education and Commercial Art. In her free time, she likes to paint, listen to show tunes, practice fake accents and eat McDonald's. After college, Jordan plans to bring glory to God through her art and her love for the people around her​.

Community Connections Chair

Jon Foley is a sophomore from Lee’s Summit, MO. Currently Jon is majoring in Nursing and plans to transfer to the Southwest Baptist University Springfield campus in the spring of 2015 in order to attend their Nursing program. Jon has a passion to serve the Lord and sees Welcome Week as an opportunity to do so. After graduation Jon hopes to pursue a life of missions using his Nursing degree to help heal people.

Servant Leaders Connections Chair

Trinity Griffin is a junior Social Work major from Belleville, IL. In her free time, she likes to play the video games at McDonald's, go on road trips with friends, and going to concerts. Trinity is a kid's ministry intern at church in Bolivar where she teaches a third grade small group on Wednesday nights. After college, Trinity plans to get her Masters of Social Work and be a school social worker.

Business Connections Chair

Chantelle Mecham is a senior Mathematics major.  When she is not working with Welcome Week, she plays violin for the SBU Chamber Orchestra and is one of the team leaders for the SBU Enactus India team. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, rock climbing, traveling, music, and missions! After graduation, she hopes to join an engineering company in Tulsa to help develop their solar energy prototype. Fulfilling the dream to make a difference for Christ in the lives of people around the world!
