The University Success Center is responsible for the delivery of two general education courses: University Seminar and Critical Thinking. First-year students are required to take these courses during their first year at SBU.
University Seminar (UNI 1111) is the first semester course. This course is designed to acclimate students to campus life and to the mission of SBU. It is also designed to develop time management and study skills and explore personality typing and career choices. This course is a prerequisite for Critical Thinking.
Critical Thinking (UNI 1121) is the second semester course and is designed to promote an awareness of a personal value system as well as to promote the use of critical thinking skills in the study of issues in today's society.
